đź’ 7-modules following the diamond process applied to christian growth
1. The Hidden Deposit
Diamonds are hidden beneath the earth until typically a volcanic eruption sends them up to the surface. In the same way, it’s amazing how the process of a diamond follows the spiritual formation process for all Believers. The Scriptures reveal that each of us were in Christ before we were born into this world!
In this lesson we go deep into this idea covering many examples of individuals that God not only knew would come into the world but what they would do in their service for His Kingdom. This knowledge creates in us great security as we learn our lives are not random or mistakes but selected and sent by God for His purposes.
2. The Rough stone found
After a diamond arrives to the surface it must be found or it just remains in darkness and buried. However, like a modern day prospector searching for diamonds so also the Lord searches for lost souls until He finds them. It’s the Shepherd finding His lost sheep and it’s the prodigal son returning to his Father. For Christians, this is called Salvation. It’s like the rough stone being found when we come to Christ and are spiritually born again by the Holy Spirit.
We become His. Now we are in His hands and begin to follow Him as Lord. This lesson is foundational covering several Biblical analogies of the love of God and the great value He sees in people that Christ died on the cross for to redeem with His blood and restore to God. This goes beyond a basic knowledge of God to a place of being spiritually alive in God developing an ever deeper relationship with Him which motivates us to go to the next phase.
3. The Examination
The newly discovered diamond in the rough is examined to determine it’s value and what’s inside. For the Believer, after being found and saved we then begin to learn who we are in Christ, our new identity in Him and become established in the love of God for us, His acceptance and the gift of righteousness in Christ. We are now disciples following Jesus Christ and He is real to us even though we do now see Him with our physical eye we see Him by faith and feel His love and presence in our lives.
This is also is an exciting phase because we start to get early indications of God’s call and gifts start to be recognized and acknowledged by others. We come to a place of making decisions to follow Christ beyond an initial prayer of salvation but chose to actively pursue preparing ourselves which brings us to the next phase.
4. The Cleaving
Every diamond goes through this cleaving phase which is a process of breaking free. The hardened rock encasing the precious stone within is broken off that the shining gem may be fully developed. The application for the child of God is known as having an encounter with Christ which touches us with His power freeing us from our past, negative baggage, guilt, condemnation, bondages, addictions, strongholds and any spiritual oppression. The Lord also heals the broken hearted causing us to experience true spiritual restoration and liberty in the Son. Every Believer has challenges that hold them back from spiritual progress. This phase deals with getting truly free!
In preparation for this phase, a personal spiritual assessment survey is provided to complete followed by prayer as a group for total freedom and healing by the authority of the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit! The foundational truth of Jesus ministry to the whole person; spirit, soul and body is emphasized according to Luke 4:18-19. The goal is total freedom from the past to grow into your destiny in Christ. This spiritual freedom and inner healing position us to go to the next phase.
5. The Bruting
The next phase a diamond goes through is called “Bruting”. The rough diamond that has been set free is now attached to a mandrel and spun against another diamond spinning in the opposite direction which further shapes the rough stone to look more and more like the shape of a diamond. For Believers, this phase is understanding how God uses pressure, trials, difficulties and friction in our lives to form Christlike character in us.
In this lesson we see how God was actively engaged in moving His servants from fleshly self centered individuals to godly leaders glorifying God. We also go deep into the step by step process of adding to our faith the qualities that cause us to become balanced, spiritually mature and produce fruit in our lives. This process was so important that the Apostle Peter not only wrote it for Christians to grow in his day but he determined they should alway be remembered because of their timeless nature leading to robust solid character growth preparing us to go to the next phase.
6. The Faceting
The next phase for the diamond is called “Faceting”. The stone is precision cut and polished until it’s ready to be placed in jewelry or even industrial tooling applications. Diamonds have several purposes and every Christian is also unique and specially formed to fulfill a divine purpose. For the Christian it’s the vital phase of discovering and sharpening your Spiritual gifts. This phase is very satisfying and joyful because not only do we get confirmation of the gifts in our lives but a very strong indication of the purpose and call of God for our lives.
We provide a Questionnaire of 112 questions covering 14 spiritual gifts, motivations and ministries to help determine the gifts strongest in your life. As the Apostle Paul wrote that the Spirit distributes to each of us individually according as God wills for the building up of the Body of Christ. The gifts God gives us are not for ourselves but given to us that we may confidently serve others which leads us to the next phase.
7. The Setting
Finally, the diamond that was buried deep in the earth has been found, examined, set free, shaped, cut with precision and polished. Now it’s ready to be set to reflect it’s transparency, strength and brilliant light! For the Child of God who was once formerly hidden in the mind of God he or she is now ready to be set in the Body of Christ serving others and reflecting the glory of Christ living within!
This phase identifies areas of service and ministry weather called to volunteer service or full time leadership roles. The goal is discovering and pointing you in the direction of your God-ordained area of influence. Students will be provided an original proprietary spiritual mapping formation tool to answer important key questions on Scriptures they believe God has revealed to them concerning His call, their spiritual gifts, personal dreams, visions, prophecies, ministry experiences and desires for the purpose of aligning themselves in the Body of Christ for maximum Kingdom Impact!
The placement for each student should be a matter of prayer and discussed with their Pastor who’s task according God’s word is to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry and lead the church to engage in the mission of Christ who said upon this rock I will build My Church and go into all the world, preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations until He comes!
